Services for Mrs. Fred Croft at Slater

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater for Mrs. Fred Croft of Sheldahl, who passed away last Saturday at the Boone hospital.

Rev. Herbert Phillips, pastor of the Methodist church was in charge of the service. Lester Moore of Sheldahl sang two selections "Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

There were many beautiful floral tributes in memory of Mrs. Croft and gifts were given to worthy causes in her memory.

Casket bearers were Merle Chader, Ray Chader, Ward Chader, Harold Croft, Lester Moore and Roy Croft. Burial was in the Sheldahl cemetery.

Obituary

Jarda Minona Chader was born near Madrid, Ia., Oct. 12, 1869 and passed away at Boone, Feb. 27 at the age of 84 years, four months and 15 days. Her early childhood was spent in and around Sheldahl and Slater until she was grown.

She was united in marriage to Alfred Croft Feb. 25, 1891 in Garden township. They lived on a farm then moved to Slater and came to Sheldahl in 1902, where she had lived for 52 years. To this uion were born four children, twin daughters, Inez and Eunice and two sons Chauncey and Dwight. Eunice passed away at the age of six months, Inez at the age of six years and Chauncey at the age of 18 months. Inez and Chauncey died just a few days apart.

Her husband preceded her in death, passing away on Aug. 19, 1945. They joined the Slater Methodist church early in life and there retained their membership. Mrs. Croft had one sister and four brothers. A niece, Clarice, made her home with them after the death of her parents, from childhood until her marriage.

She is survived by her son Dwight; a brother, Aimel Chader of Slater, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.

She had been in poor health for a number of years but was patient and uncomplaining, and steadfastly maintained her deep faith and trust in the Lord.
