DEATHS

Sanford H. Dobbe

Funeral services for Sanford Howard Dobbe were held on Monday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Palestine Lutheran Church at Huxley with Pastor Ernest R. Thompson officiating.

Elman Sheldahl, soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Noel Larson, organist, as he sang, "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "How Great Thou Art." The congregation sang "My Faith Looks Up to Thee."

Pallbearers were Ernest Smith, Ole Hanson, Eldon Freeland, Leonard Thompson, Jeffery Richardson and Matt Vespestad.

Interment was in the Palestine Cemetery with military services.

Sanford Dobbe was born Oct. 19, 1894 in Polk County near Huxley to parents, Ole and Martha Dobbe.

He grew up in this vicinity and served in World War I.

On Jan. 15, 1919, he was married to Pearl Wagley. To this union four children were born, Marion, Canton, S. Dak.; Gene, Madrid, Spain; Lorraine Richardson of Granada Hills, Calif. and Dorothy Ann Lee of Huxley. Later they adopted a son Glenn.

They made their home around Huxley until 1922 when they moved to Sioux City, Iowa and farmed for 20 years. They moved back to Polk County where they farmed until 1951. Mr. Dobbe was employed by the Iowa State Highway Commission until he retired.

He was a member of the American Legion at Slater and a member of the Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, five children, 17 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
