Funeral Services Held Thursday For Mrs. T. S. Erickson

Roland, Feb. 18--Funeral services for the late Mrs. T. S. Erickson, former Roland resident who passed away Sunday, Feb. 8 at the St. Vincent hospital at Sioux City, were held on last Thursday afternoon, with a prayer service at the Erickson Funeral home and at Bergen's Lutheran church with the Rev. Allen E. Nelson in charge and burial was made in the Roland cemetery.

Mrs. O. E. Ritland sang "Heaven Is My Home" at the funeral home and at the church Mrs. Grant Eggland sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The pall bearers were Henry Bakka, Chester Pearson, Elmer Amenson, Marion Peterson, Harold Hegland and Tommy Jacobson.

Mrs. Erickson, daughter of the late Michael and Caroline Hegland, was born in Roland on March 19, 1875. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen church. She was married May 25, 1893 to Tom Erickson. They lived in this community, on a farm on the west edge of Roland until 1914 when they sold the farm and moved to Sioux Falls. Later they purchased her father's home at Roland where they lived until Mr. Erickson's death in 1935. After his death she moved to Sioux City. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley of Los Angeles and Mrs. Gladys Spofford of Minneapolis and two sons Maurice of Dell Rapids, S. D. and Lawrence of Sioux City and two grandchildren on of whom is in Germany, also two sisters, Mrs. M. O. Anderson of Roland and Mrs. Leo Davis of Cedar Rapids, four brothers, Lewis Hegland of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Martin of California, Henry of Iowa City and Elroy who is in the navy and at present in Egypt.

Dak., Shirley Erickson of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Erickson and Linda of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Spofford of Minneapolis, R. L. Hegland of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., H. T. Hegland of Iowa City, Mrs. Leo Davis of Cedar Rapids, Harold Hegland and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dodson of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Pearson, Janet and Mary Ellen of McCallsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Walfer Carson of Forest City, Mrs. Ben Knudtson of Dysart, Mrs. H. E. Myrah and Mrs. B. M. Rasmusson of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Olson and Jane Erickson of Nevada.
