OBITUARIES

Robert Gerald Eller
Feb. 18, 1927, to March 20, 1999

Robert Gerald Eller, 72, of Colo, died of congestive heart failure Saturday, March 20 at his home in Colo.

He was born Feb. 18, 1927, to Gerald and Hazel (Pryor) Eller in Ames. He was a longtime Story County resident. He served in the Air Force during World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic. He married Goldie Ione Miller on Aug. 20, 1950, in Colo. He was a bricklayer and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Bricklayers Local Union and enjoyed auto mechanics, auto racing and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Goldie of Colo; three sons, Carey of Cedar Falls, and James and Larry, both of Nevada, three daughters, Sheila Eller of Ellsworth, Donnelle Eller of Jacksonville, Fla. and Michelle Bellile of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, a sister, Margret McCollum of Colo, and two brothers, Ronald of Laurel Hills, Fla., and Arthur Charles John of Manasses, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald, on Nov. 15, 1985.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted in the Colo Cemetery by the William F. Ball American Legion Post #48 of Nevada. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
