Final Rites Held at Slater for Pioneer Wife and Mother

Slater, March 31--Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Lundy, 79, took place Saturday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sheldahl and at 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem church. Rev. E. R. Rorem had charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud of Randall and Rev. Peder Buland of near Cambridge. Misses Edna Houge and Josie Ryg had charge of the floral offerings. The Ladies Aid, a group of neighbors, and a group of friends and the children presented gifts of money to the missions in memory of Mrs. Lundy. Miss Ruth Halvorson sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." A quartet composed of A. Maland, A. A. Chader and Mesdames M. S. Heggen and A. L. Peterson, sang "He Hideth My Soul" and "Fade, Fade Each Earthly Joy." Six grandsons served as pallbearers Harland Gaard of Cylinder, Alden and Harris Tollefson of Cedar Falls; Omar and Milton Sheldahl and Earl Lundy of Slater. Burial was made in the Slater cemetery.

Helen Stenerson [should be Stanerson] was born August 1, 1857, in Lisbon, Illinois, and died March 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jordan Paulsrud at Houston, Minnesota.

She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and always took an active and sincere interest in all phases of church work.

She was married in Sheldahl to Halvor E. Lundy of Morris, Illinois, February 23, 1881. They made their home on a farm north of Slater, till a number of years ago wen they built a home in Slater, where they lived till the death of Mr. Lundy seven years ago. Since that time Mrs. Lundy has spent most of her time with her children. She was a devoted wife, kind and loving mother and a sincere and faithful friend. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons, Rev. Eli Lundy of Mount Vernon, South Dakota, Silas Lundy of Estherville, George Lundy of Waterloo, also four daughters Mrs. A. K. Gaard of Cylinder, Mrs. Jordan Paulsrud of Houston, Minn., Mrs. Albert Tollefson of Cedar Falls and Mrs. J. E. Sheldahl of Slater, twenty-seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also a sister, Mrs. L. G. Johnson of Minnesota.

Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral services of Mrs. Lundy were Rev. and Mrs. Jordan Paulsrud and children of Houston, Minnesota, Rev. and Mrs. Eli Lundy and son of Mount Vernon, South Dakota, Rev. and Mrs. A. K. Gaard and children of Cylinder, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Lundy of Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tollefson and children of Cedar Falls, Mr. and Mrs. George Lundy of Waterloo, Miss Wilma Lundy of Houston, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Severson of Ames, Hans Lundy of Des Moines, Alice Quinslan of Nevada and Mrs. P. Buland of Cambridge.
