RUXTON FUNERAL WAS HELD SUNDAY

PIONEER RESIDENT OF COUNTY WAS LAID TO REST AT ZEARING

Zearing, July 9--Funeral services for A. H. Ruxton were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the home, with a large crowd of relatives and friends present. The services were conducted by Rev. Chas. A. Burkhart, Mrs. J. D. Hankins and Mrs. H. G. Martin sang three selections. The pallbearers were J. A. Johnston, M. E. Dakin, Charles Klespie, D. H. Beach, R. M. Lightfoot and S. R. Hix. The floral tributes which were in charge of Mrs. W. C. Brouhard and Mrs. M. E. Dakin. Interment was made at the Zearing cemetery beside the wife. The Masons had charge at the cemetery where the full Masonic rites were given, with W. C. Heintz of Collins in charge.

Adam Hill Ruxton was born in Arbroth, Scotland, March 10, 1850. He was the ninth son of a family of twelve boys. He came to America in the year 1866 with his father and four brothers who followed a few years later. The mother died when Mr. Ruxton was nine years of age and four of the brothers died early in life.

He was married to Margaret Wallace at Geneseo, Ill., Jan. 1, 1875. To this union four children were born, Isabelle Norton of Fort Dodge, David Ruxton, Jennie Chance and James Ruxton of Zearing, all of whom were present at the time of his death. He also leaves one granddaughter, Mrs. Eva Reese, and three great grandchildren, two brothers, Jack Ruxton of Detroit, Mich., who was with him during his last illness and Allen Ruxton of Chicago, besides several nieces and nephews and a large number of friends.

Mr. Ruxton was one the pioneers of the county, coming here in the year 1877 and settling on a farm south of McCallsburg. In 1894 he moved to the farm near Zearing where he resided until nineteen years ago when he retired and moved to Zearing. He was a member of the Masonic order and the Order of the Eastern Stars. For a number of years he held important positions in the State Savings bank here and at the time of his death was vice president of the bank.

Many out of town people, former residents here and old neighbors of the family attended the services among them were, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. King of Eldora,, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Harris, C. W. Harris, Mrs. Lowell Harris, Mr. and Mrs. C. e. Markland and Mr. and Mrs. John Lundy of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jessen of Story City and many other friends.
