NELSON FUNERAL HELD ON MONDAY

HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF NEVADA SINCE 1883, LEAVES 7 CHILDREN

Funeral services for Mrs. Chris Nelson who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Warner, Friday evening were held Monday afternoon at Memorial Lutheran church, the sermon being preached by her pastor, Rev. Hugh Yost. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery. There was a large concourse of relatives and old time neighbors and friends gathered to pay their tribute of respect to one whom they had loved and respected.

Many relatives and friends from a distance were here for the funeral and to comfort the husband and children. Of the seven children all were present with the exception of the youngest son, Carl, whose home is in California, and who had been here to see the mother earlier in her extended illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson are pioneers of Nevada, she having came here in 1883 and Mr. Nelson a year later. They were married in Nevada September 5, 1885, and have lived in or near Nevada continuously since and here they had raised their seven children.

She was born Caroline Christine Nelson at Slagelse, Denmark, January 19, 1860 and departed this life at Nevada, July 5, 1929, age nearly 69 years.

She came to this country in 1883 and was married to Christian Nelson September 5, 1885.

To this union seven children were born and with the husband are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother.

The four daughters are Mrs Mary Larson, Mr. Stena Hoel, Mrs. Sena Melohn and Mrs. Emma Warner, while the sons are Hans P. Nelson and R. Fred Nelson of Nevada and Carl C. Nelson of Los Angeles, Calif. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives, including a brother Rasmus Nelson of Albert Lea, Minn.

Mrs. Nelson was not only a kind and loving wife and mother, but a devoted member of the Lutheran church and one who will be missed by a great host of friends.

Among those from a distance who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Nelson and son Carl, Nels Nelson, and Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hanson, all of Albert Lea, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nelson of Madrid; James P. Nelson of Gilbert; Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Anderson and daughter Marie of Iowa Falls; Mr. and Mrs M. P. Mathison and Mrs. and Mrs. Elmert Johnson of Eagle Grove, John Johnson of Salina, Kansas, Mrs. F. A. Warner and daughters Ada, Doris and Wilma of Cambridge and Mr. O. Ferren of Colo.
