Funeral Services Held at Fernald for Walter G. Hall

Fernald - Dec. 28 - Relatives, friends and neighbors who gathered here Tuesday for the funeral services of the late Walter Graham Hall, not only filled the main auditorium of the St. Paul's Lutheran church, but the basement, the vestibule and hallways as well. He funeral rites were in charge of his pastor Rev. Blancke of Newton.

The front of the church was banked with beautiful floral offerings that portrayed in a visual way the esteem of the many friends of the deceased. Two beautiful songs "No Night There" and "The Old Rugged Cross; were sung by a mixed quartet, composed of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hilburn, Mrs. Harold Handsaker and Mr. Andy Picht. The pall bearers were Russel Chitty; Milo Nessa, Bud Miller, Lowell Crosby, R.E. Riley and John Watts.

The flowers were beautifully arranged and cared for by Mrs. D. T. Swanson and Mrs. C.A. Swanson.

Walter Graham Hall was born in Fernald, July 17, 1907, and passed away at the Iowa Sanitarium in Nevada on Sunday morning December 24. He graduated from the Fernald school in 1927. On April 27, 1931 he was united in marriage to Miss Stella Gluck. To this union three children were born, Bobby age 7, Larry age 3, and Marline 8 months. He is also survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hall of Greencastle, two brothers, James of McCallsburg and Fred of Fernald.

Walter's friends were numbered by his acquaintances, and his smile which he had for young and old alike will be greatly missed. He had been the very efficient Sunday school superintendent at the Lutheran church for the past three years. He was the bus driver on route three for the Fernald school and in this capacity the children will miss his readiness to help them.

He made many acquaintances over the county as a gravel hauling contractor.

It is hard to express in words the sorrow that is felt for the wife and children. Dr. Black's words of comfort will long be remembered by all who heard them. The burial was in the Murphy cemetery near Fernald.
