Special to the Journal:
Colo, August 29--Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church here Sunday afternoon for Joseph Edmond White, 88, pioneer citizen of this community who died at his home here August 18. The service at the church was followed by burial in the Colo cemetery.

The following life sketch of the deceased was read by the minister during the service:

Joseph Edmond White, a pioneer of the Colo community, died at his home late Tuesday evening, Aug. 18, having reached the age of 88 years, 2 months and 20 days. He had been in failing health for some time, but was able to be up and sitting in his chair until a few days before his death which came rather suddenly but peacefully. He had the best of loving care.

He was born May 29, 1854 in Tipton county, Indiana, youngest son of John Fletcher and Jane Snodgrass-White. He was married to Mary Taylor, May 29, 1884.

Nine children were born to this union. Herbert L. of Colo; Archie E. of Popejoy; Joseph R. of Dows; Mrs W. C. Howell of Oranger, Cal.; Mrs. R. L. Day of Flaxville, Mont.; Mrs. W. W. Siglin of La Junta, Colo., and Mrs. E. G. Armstrong of Nevada. Two children, Dale and Gordon, preceded him in death. He has 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was baptized at an early age in the Church of God at Hickory Grove, south of Colo and remained faithful to it through life.

Besides the large number of descendants and other near relatives, he leaves his beloved wife, to whom he was very devoted and who cared for him so faithfully.

His general disposition, industry and honesty won him also a large number of friends, those of whom have lived beyond a long span of years will miss a faithful friend.
