Hold Funeral Services For William Boitnott

Maxwell, May 22--Funeral services for Wm. Boitnott, who died Sunday at the noon hour at his home in Maxwell, after suffering a paralytic stroke early Saturday morning, were held Wednesday afternoon the Indian Creek Brethren church south of town and interment was in the Brethren cemetery near the church.

The rites were in charge of his pastor, the Rev. J. D. Brower. Mrs. Alice Gooden sang "Shadows" and Mrs. Gooden with Jimmie Beal sang "We're Going," "The Valley," and "Home of the Soul," accompanied by Miss Dorothy Beal. The six sons were pallbearers.

The pastor read the following life sketch:

"William Monroe Boitnott, son of James and Sarah Jamison Boitnott, was born June 23, 1867, at Dillon's Mill, in Franklin county, Virginia, and passed away May 17, 1942, at noon, at his home in Maxwell, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 25 days.

"When a small child his parents moved to Iowa and settled in Iowa Center, later moved to Tucker Lake. At the death of his father, he was sixteen and his mother took him and several younger brothers and sisters and went back to Virginia. He stayed two years in Virginia, then returned to Iowa where he spent the rest of his life.

"On December 11, 1888, he was united in marriage to Sadie Enfield. To this union was born eleven children. One son, Orville James and three daughters, May and Viola and Doris, preceded him in death.

"He leaves to mourn his death, his beloved wife; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Kaltenheuser of Cambridge, Iowa; six sons Jay T., Cecil J. and Edgar D. of Roanoke, Virginia, Earl F. of Cambridge, Iowa, William B. of Des Moines, Iowa, George E. of Newton, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He has three brothers surviving John of Gary, Indiana, Sam and Harry of Roanoke, Virginia, two sisters, Mrs. Effie Downs, Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. May Herbert of Roanoke, Virginia.

"He was a member of the Brethren church of south Maxwell. A devoted husband and father, he was always ready and glad to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends."
