Funeral Services Held at Maxwell For Lyman H. Hudson

Maxwell, April 23--Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Church of Christ for Lyman Hudson, who died at his home Thursday night after a two weeks' illness with pneumonia. The rites were in charge of Rev. H. G. Darling pastor of the church assisted by Rev. John C. Turner. A mixed quartette composed of Arnold Scott, Mrs. E. L. Wood, Mrs. H. G. Darling and O. O. Holtby sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Asleep in Jesus," and "Under His Wings," with Mrs. Arthur Porter at the piano.

The floral offerings were profuse and most beautiful. The pallbearers were Clint Warfield, R. Z. Brown, Walter Clark, Clarence Pierce, Ray Robertson and Herschell Van Hook.

Burial was made in the Maxwell cemetery.

Rev. Turner read the following life sketch.

"Lyman Harrison Hudson, son of William and Jane Hudson, was born July 5, 1889 at Jordan, Ind., departing this life at his home in Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 16, 1942, at the age of 52 years, 9 months and 11 days.

"He spent his childhood days in Indiana and in his teen age was united with the Baptist church in the vicinity of his birthplace.

"He was united in marriage on February 22, 1912, to Golda Mae Leonard at Cuba, Ind. To this union ten children were born, Charles William of Carlinville, Ill.; Theodore Lee (Teddy), Maxwell; June Elizabeth Hudson Mark of Des Moines; Carol Lyman, of the U. S. Navy; Clara Laverne of Nevada; Wilford James (Jack), of the U. S. Navy; Leonard, Jr., Harold Lincoln, Kathryn Marian, and Nyle Gordon (Dicky) living at home, all of who survive him. He also leaves one brother, Wm. of Crawfordsville, Ind., and four sisters, Mrs. Ed Spear of Spencer, Ind.; Mrs. Clarence Steele of Carpe, Ind.; Mrs. Oran Shoemaker of Cloverdale, Ind., and Mrs. John Washman, of Bloomington, Ill., and three grandchildren, Teddy Lee and Jerry J Hudson and Michele Allan Mark, Des Moines, also a host of other relatives and friends.

"He came to Iowa in 1915 settling near Collins, moving near Maxwell in 1922 and later moving into town where he spent his remaining years."
