Funeral Services For Mrs. Chentland Held at Zion Chruch

Mrs. Dorothea Chentland, a daughter of Odd and Valborg Twedt, was born January 14, 1871, in Aardal, near Stavanger, Norway, and died at her daughter's (Mrs. Arnold Christianson) home, north of McCallsburg, Feb. 18, 1942, at the age of 71 years.

She came to America at the age of 25, coming to Radcliffe. In 1896 she married Thomas Chentland, who passes away in the month of August, 1937. To this union were born nine children, six girls and three boys, who all survive their parents.

For a good many years she has been in poor health and during the last year she was bedfast most of the tie. Her last serious illness was brief, lasting only five days.

She leaves to mourn her demise her nine children, Otis of Radcliffe; Martin and Edward of Hubbard; Bertha (Mrs. Thomas Eness) of Garner; Wilma (Mrs. Sven Meling) of Forest City, Selma, McCallsburg; Della (Mrs. Carl Vaage) of Joice; Verna (Mrs. Harry Rodberg) of Hanlontown; Clara (Mrs. Arnold Christianson, McCallsburg.) Also 21 grandchildren, and a siser and brother in Norway.

The funeral took place Saturday, Nov. 21, with a brief devotional at the Christianson home. Mrs. O. E. Ritland sang a solo in Norwegian, "Has Jesus."

During the service at the Zion church, two duets were sung by Mesdames Beran and Fosse "Softly the Daylight Faded" and "Saved By Grace." Orva Lee was at the piano. There were several gifts of money for Selma and the family, also for Missions.

Those who served as pall bearers were Clarence Pearson, Mr. Michaelson, Joseph Johnson, J. M. Bergland, B. M. Bergland, B. M. Bergland and John Caltvedt.
