Final Rites Held Here Wednesday for Mrs. Ellen Vogt

Funeral rites for Mrs. Ellen Vogt, 81, for over 40 years a resident of Grant township, southwest of Nevada, who died at her farm home Monday, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lilly Funeral home and the place was filled to overflowing with members of the family and old neighbors and friends.

The service was conducted by Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, with the songs by Mrs. Beulah Freeland, Mrs. Garnet Hathaway at the organ. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, the late Ben Vogt who died Aug. 16, 1919.

The following brief life sketch of the deceased was read during the service by the officiating minister.

"Ella K. Bowman was born in Hooversville, Pa., April 6, 1861. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bowman. She moved with her parents to Elpaso, Ill., when a child. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Vogt, Jan. 1, 1882. They resided on a farm until March, 1899, at which time they moved to a farm six miles southeast of Ames, where they have since made their home.

"To the union nine children were born, eight of which survive. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Annie, who passed away Dec. 19, 1914, and her husband Aug. 16, 1919. Since that time, she has lived on the farm with her son Benjamin. She passed away at 6:30 p. m., Jan. 19, 1942."

Surviving are her sons, George, Charles, Bert, Clarence, Benjamin and James, daughters, Mrs. C. E. Womach [should be Womack] and Mrs. Willard Shearer, 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren all of the survivors live nearby and were at the bedside when Mrs. Vogt passed away, with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. C. E. Womach [should be Womack] of Elma, Ia.
