Former Zearing Man Dead, Body to Plymouth for Burial

A brief funeral service for John D. Anderson of Zearing, who died Saturday forenoon, was held at the Morfoot funeral home here Tuesday, with Dr. Loose of the Methodist Episcopal church in charge.

The body will be taken to the old home at Plymouth, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 at the Methodist church, with Rev. Collister in charge and burial will be in the Rock Fall cemetery by the side of his first wife.

John D. Anderson was born in southern Illinois, Nov.3, 1871. He came to Iowas with his parents when a boy and lived on a farm most of his life. He was first married to Amanda Kinney who died April 1926 in Zearing. He had retired from farming and clerked in stores for number of years in Zearing. He remarried 11 1/2 years ago and became a salesman for the Sherman Nursery company of Charles City, Iowa.

About five years ago he united with the Evangelical church in Zearing.

Mr. Anderson lived a very active life until about three years ago, when his health began to fail. In July of the past year he had a stroke which crippled him so he could not walk without assistance. In the afternoon of Aug. 21, he had a second stroke which paralyzed him all over in every nerve of his body, and he remained helpless from then on until the end. He was taken to the Iowa sanitarium at Nevada, Aug. 22 by his wife and had been bedfast since.

Mr. Anderson passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 22, 1938 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 19 days. His death occurred at the Story county hospital where he was transferred Sept. 4. He was a cheerful sufferer and said he was prepared to go any time. His wife survives him.
