Grandma Ferner Laid to Rest Tuesday Afternoon

The boy of the late Virginia Ferner, 90, pioneer woman of Nevada, was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon, in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, the later James D. Ferner, Civil War veteran who died many years ago.

Mrs. Ferner, who died early Sunday morning at her home at 105 Lincoln avenue, where she lived with her daughter Mrs. Edith McCall, had been a resident of Nevada since she came here as girl during the Civil war days.

The service was conducted at the home by her pastor Dr. C. D. Loose and the songs were by Mrs. Beulah Freeland and Mrs. Betty Case who sang "Fade, Fade Each Earthly Joy" and "Abide With Me."

The house was well filled with old friends and neighbors, with a few visiting relatives from a distance. The floral offerings were very beautiful.

Among those from outside of the city here for the service were Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Preston of Des Moines, Mrs. Genevieve McCall of Fort Dodge an Mrs. Sadie Sowers of Ames.
