THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 16, 1936, page 1. OBITUARY - "PHILIP ENFIELD. Phillip Enfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Enfield, was born near Iowa City, Johnson county, Iowa, February 25, 1885, and passed away at his home, near Maxwell, Iowa, January 8, 1936, age 50 years, ten months and fourteen days. At the age of twelve years he moved with his parents to this locality, where he has spent the remainder of his life. June of 1906, he united with the Church of the Brethren and was elected to the deacon's office in 1915 and has always served the church faithfully. January 14, 1914, he was united in marriage to Bessie DeVilbiss. To this union two children were born, Dwight Emerson and Earl Harvey, who with their mother survive. He is also survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Conrad Enfield, three brothers, Charles, Daniel and Harmon, all of Maxwell; two sisters, Mrs. Harry DeVilbiss, of Maxwell, and Mrs. Charles Fackler, of Farrar, and a host of other relatives and friends. His father and one brother preceded him in death. He was a loving husband and father, a kind neighbor and friend, and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Brethren, south of Maxwell, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. D. W. Wise, of Fernald, and assisted by Rev. T. U. Reed. A mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. Ray Gooden, Mrs. T. U. Reed, Guy Fiscel and Joy Fiscel, with Mrs. N. A. Pearson at the piano, sang "Shall We Gather at the River?", "No Disappointments in Heaven" and "We are Going Down the Valley.: Pall bearers were Ray Martin, F. W. Huffman, W. B. Holland, Ray Gooden, Roy Beal and J. D. Miller. Interment was in the family lot in the Brethren cemetery. Relatives attending the funeral besides the immediate families in the community, were Mr. and Mrs. Olan Kinderd, Linden, Iowa; Virgil Devilbiss, Redfield; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zick, daughter, Anna, and son, August, Ocheyedan; Guy Fiscel, Perry, and Mrs. Eva Fiscel, Panora. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the many neighbors and friends who assisted in any way during the last illness of our loved one, Philip Enfield. Also for those who assisted at the funeral and for the beautiful floral tributes. Mrs. Philip Enfield and Sons, Mrs. Conrad Enfield and Family."
