Obituary Of Anna Belle Adams

Anna Belle, daughter of Martin and Sarah Legrand was born Jan. 5, 1877 near Paris, Mo. and died Nov. 4, 1958 at Oakdale, Iowa, where she had been hospitalized for the past 13 months at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 29 days.

At the age of five years she journeyed to Kansas with her parents in a covered wagon, residing there until the age of eleven years when the family returned to Missouri.

On Aug. 29, 1891 she was united in marriage to John David Adams at Queen City. Her husband preceded her in death April 17, 1936.

During their early years Mr. and Mrs. Adams made their home in Missouri until January of 1914 when they moved to Iowa.

To this union was born eight children, six of whom survive her, namely, O. E. Adams of Fayette, Iowa; J. H. Adams of West Palm Beach, Fla.; D. M. Adams of Kirksville, Mo.; H. F. Adams of Woodstock, Ill.; Mrs. Edith Bowling and Mrs. Alma Sesker, both of Cambridge, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Nellie May in 1900 and Lily Marie in 1921.

Mrs. Adams was born into a family of twelve children, being preceded in death by six brothers and survived by five sisters, none of whom were able to attend the funeral.

They are Mrs. Rhoda Leonard of Sturgeon, Mo., Mrs. Pearl Philebaum of Hartford City, Ind., Mrs. Sally Sanders of Hurdland, Mo., Mrs. Gusta Smith of Doniphan, Mo. and Mrs. May Denton of Fruita, Colo. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
