THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 19, 1923, page 1, column 5. "HELEN E. EATWELL. - Helen E. Gardner was born in Ohio June 15, 1828, and died at her old home April 14, 1923, aged eighty-four years and ten months. She was united in marriage to John Eatwell February 19, 1857. To this union eight children were born, two of whom George S. and Sarah J., preceded her in death. Her husband passed away September 3, 1884. Those left to mourn her loss are James Eatwell, of Lyons, Colorado; Cyrus Eatwell, of Farrar, Iowa; Albert Eatwell, of Zearing, Iowa; Julia Long, of Mingo, Iowa; Emma Dunlap, of Farrar, Iowa, and Mary Downey, of Farrar, Iowa; also 37 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren, besides her two sister, Mrs. James Cutsinger, of Sheldon, Iowa, and Mrs. Chas. Jarvill, of Laurens, Iowa, and two brothers, Robert Gardner, of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Dayton Gardner, of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska; as well as a host of friends. To know her was to love her. Mrs. Eatwell was a member of the Methodist church at Farrar and her greatest pleasure was in attending her church until poor health deprived her of that pleasure. She was a loving mother, ever ready and willing to do all she could for those she loved. The funeral was held at the Farrar church Monday afternoon, Rev. C. J. Nutt, of Des Moines, a farmer pastor of the church, delivering the sermon. Burial was in the Graham cemetery." "Card of Thanks. - We wish to thank the friends and neighbors for the kindness and help in caring for our beloved mother and especially the nurse who was so kind and took such good care of her. Her Children."
