Funeral Services Held at Maxwell for Merrill Hoyt
Special to the Journal:
Maxwell, May 25--Funeral services for Merrill Hoyt were held Monday afternoon in the Chruch of Christ with the pastor, the Rev. Stanley Mahannah officiating. With Mrs. Ned Pearson at the piano, Mrs. J. B. Scott and Mrs. C. I. Kirk sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "End of Perfect Day" and "In the Garden."Pall bearers were A. F. Heinrich, Geo. D. Olinger, Eldon Richardson, Leslie Hill and John Perzell and J. J. Viers. Floral tokens were very beautiful and profuse, arranged and carried by Mrs. J. J. Viers, Mrs. Robert Scot, Mrs. Willard Hartin and Miss Violet Byers. Burial was in the Maxwell cemetery. Rev. Mahannah read the following obituary:
"Clement Merrill Hoyt was born October 3, 1915, at Stuart, Iowa, the youngest son of Bert and Lillian Hoyt, and passed away May 18, 1944 at the age of 28 years, 7 month and 15 days. He lived most of his lifetime in Maxwell, and was graduated from the Maxwell High School in 1935.
"Merrill was a member of the Maxwell Church of Christ, being the third member baptized in the new church, on January 9, 1923. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Dunahoo on July 13, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. To this union was born one daughter, Letta Leann.
Besides his wife and daughter he is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Hoyt; one sister, Letta Link; one brother, Donald; two nephews Tracy and Lynn; and one half-brother, Earl, of Central City, Neb. and a host of relatives and friends.
