Funeral Services Held on Wednesday For Geo. D. Olinger

Maxwell, July 22--Funeral services for George D. Olinger were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Presbyterian church with the pastor, Rev. David S. de Best in charge. The main auditorium of the large church was well filled with sorrowing relatives and friends who had gathered to pay a last tribute.

A quartette composed of Doris Myers, Dale John, Ross Olinger and Clark John sang "In the Garden:" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Floral offerings wer many and most beautiful, arranged and carried by Mrs. J. J. Viers, Mrs. James Ward, Mrs Fay Rupp and Mrs. Merrill Dunahoo. Casket bearers were Vernon Bell, J. J. Viers, Fay Rupp, Clay Robison, Merrill Dunahoo and Hillis Grieder. Rev. de Best read the following obituary.

Geo. D. Olinger was born to Charles E. and Maude Comer Olinger, February 6, 1910 and departed this life, July 16, 1944 at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Margaret Hanson at Sioux City, June 30, 1943.

He leaves besides his wife, his mother and four brothers, Charles Comer of U. S. Army now overseas; Francis, U. S. Navy; Hugh, U. S. Army, one half sister, Mildred of Blue Earth, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister Annabelle and half brother, Byron K. Olinger.

Burial was in the Maxwell cemetery.

Out of state relatives here for the rites were his brothers, Comer Olinger of Memphis, Tenn. and Sgt. Hugh Olinger, U. S. Army in South Carolina; brother-in-law, H. R. Rosewall, Blue Earth, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Byron Olinger, Waukesha, Wis.; aunt, Mrs. Ora B. Cannon, Northville, S. Dak. Other relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Elliot, Collins; Mr. and Mrs. John Gray, State Center; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Scott and Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Parker, Des Moines. Friends here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. L. Gos and Mrs. Paul Gilison, Elkpoint, S. Dak.; Mrs. Keith Good, Rhodes.

Mr. Olinger was employed at the Des Moines Ordiance plant near Ankeny and acquaintances from the plant also attended the services.
