The following obituary was read at the funeral service.

Charles Binder of Colo, Iowa, died at his home December 1, 1944. Had he lived until December 17 he would have been 71 years old. Mr. Binder was born December 17, 1873, the son of Carl and Mary Binder of Colo. He was one of eight children, six of whom preceded him in death. On January 11, 1904 he was married to Mayme R. Shaw of Normal, Illinois. One son was born but died in infancy. The Binders adopted two daughters who are now married; Mrs. Amos Jones, Jr., of Colo and Mrs. Milo Hadley of Nevada. Mr. Binder was an active member of the Methodist church. He spent his entire live in farming and developing land. He lived near Colo all his life with the exception of twelve years when he and Mrs. Binder lived in Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife, their two daughters, a sister, Mrs. William Morgan of Scranton, and a brother, Frank Binder of Baraboo, Wisconin who was unable to be present because of illness. Mrs. Arthur Clatt the only niece was present for the last rites.

Those in attendance from a distance were Mrs. E. W. Decker, Rockwell City, Iowa; Mrs. C. A. Bradshaw, Aurora, Illinois; and Mrs. Norman Waffle, Marion, Iowa, all sisters of Mrs. Binder. Bad weather and roads kept many away. There were many beautiful flowers.
