Last Rites for Mrs. Olinger at Adams Funeral Chapel

Funeral services for Mrs. Howard Clayton Olinger, who passed away at her country home on Saturday April 7, were held from the Adams Funeral Chapel in Ames at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon with the Reverend J. D. Ransom of the Central Presbyterian church in Nevada, in charge of the services.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Ransom:

Lettie Laurene Hakes, daughter of Addison and Lettie Hakes, was born June 28, 1894, at Laurens, Iowa. The family moved near Ames in 1904; she spent her childhood and school days in Grant township.

On February 9, 1916 she was united in marriage to Howard Clayton Olinger at Madrid, Iowa. To this union were born four children, Marion, Wayne and Kathryn Olinger, all living at or near the family home and Mrs. Mary Frisbie of Moline, Ill.

After several years illness, Mrs. Olinger passed away at her country home northeast of Ames, April 7, 1945.

She was a member of the United Brethren church, and was active in choir work and as organist during the time the family lived at Ventura, Iowa. She was also a member of the Art Club.

Mrs. Olinger is survived by her husband, the four children, three grandchildren, one brother, Ralph M. Hakes, and a host of neighbors and friends who knew her and admired her.
