Mrs. Berggren sang this beautiful hymn for Mrs. Severtson on Sunday evening a week before she passed away.

Besides the many beautiful floral offerings, many gifts to various missions were given in memory.

Interment was made at the Slater cemetery beside her husband who passed away several years ago.

Malinda Askland Severtson was born near Sheldahl, Iowa, October 12th, 1869, slept peacefully away at her home in Huxley, Iowa, August 19th, 1945, at the age of 75 years. 10 months and 7 days.

On September 25th, 1888, she was united in marriage to John Severton and to this union were born eight children: two preceded her in death, George and Clifford.

The first five years of their married life they lived on a farm north of Huxley, after which they moved to Slater, Iowa, where in 1905 Mr. Severtson passed away leaving Mrs. Severtson with large family of small children.

When a young girl she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. With this background she trusted in her Lord Jesus Christ and lived a true and faithful Christian. She was greatly loved by her children. Her earnest, Godly, consecrated Christian life, and her sacrificial disposition left a deep influence upon her family.

Truly the words of God found in the thirty first chapter of Proverbs can be applied to her beautiful life. The words in the last verses of the chapter, "She openeth her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praised her. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord she shall be praised."

She was active in the Christian work. She also was a member of the W. C. T. U.

She was a kind and loving mother with a smiling disposition which won her many friends; her love for the word of God was an asset to her friends for she was always sharing the blessed truths with her neighbors and friends.

She was a loving and praying mother and will be greatly missed by loved ones.

Those who remain to revere her memory are four daughters, Ellen Satre of Ames, Mrs. Bertha Warren of near Ames, Mrs. Inger Powell of Ankeny, and Julia at home. Two sons Luther of near Kelley, Iowa and George M. of near Madrid, Iowa.

She also leave 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one brother T. C. Askland of Reeder, No. Dak., one sister, Mrs. O. J. Viland of Denver, Colorado, other relatives and host of friends.
