"DEATH OF FATHER COLE - John B. Cole, an aged and highly respected citizen of Maxwell, passed away at his home at ten o'clock Tuesday morning. He was eighty-four years of age and came to Iowa in an early day. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church at 11 o'clock today, conducted by Rev. Roberts. Casket will not be opened at the church. Friends wishing to view the remains will please call at family residence from 9:00 to 10:30 a. m. Thursday morning"

John B. Cole 1st married Cathrine and had at least 3 children. 1860 Census Jasper County, Iowa

John B. Cole 2nd married Matilda Rieman Knause and had at least 3 children with her.

Matilda was 1st married to Daniel Knause (Knouse) and had at least 5 children.

Daniel died 1 Aug 1859.* *He is listed in the 1860 census with Matilda in Jasper County, Iowa.

Matilda is living with her daughter Lily Hamilton in 1910 and 1920 census. In 1910 she is listed as Matilda Knause, in 1920 she is listed as Matilda Cole.
