THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, December 27, 1894, page 8, column 4. "OBITUARY - Mrs. Jabez Carver died at her home in Jasper County, Dec. 7, 1894. Funeral services were held Sunday the 9th last, by Rev. Curtis. Ellen Jackson was born in Luzern Co., Pa., Jan 9th, 1831, where she lived until November 8 1849, when she was married to Jabez Carver and removed to Wyoming Co., Pa., where they lived until 1861, when they moved to Wisconsin. After living there ten years, they went to Illinois, and lived 5 years, after which they came to Story Co., Iowa. They lived in Story Co. for 6 years, then moved to Jasper Co., where she lived till the time of her death. The husband of the deceased preceded her to the better land Aug 90 1886. She was for 40 years a member of the M. E. Church, although for years not able to take an active part in the church she was ever ready to do all that she could for the Master's cause. She had been for years a sufferer of rheumatism which she always bore with patience and was ever ready to help others. About 3 months ago she was taken with a severe cough which the doctor pronounced Bronchitis. After vainly trying all remedies she passed away December 7, to meet her companion in Paradise. During her illness until the last she was patient, cheerful and thoughtful for others. Few are better prepared for the Heavenly rest which comes to the prepared. Thirteen children, seven daughters and six sons mourn her loss."
