Maxwell, Aug. 8 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eva C. Hallowell were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J. D. Brower officiating. Mrs. Ray Gooden, soloist, sang "Under His Wings" and "Nearer Still Nearer."

The floral tributes were very many and beautiful. Casket bearers were W. I. Troup, Martin H. Troup, R. B. Bullard, Frank Nickodemus, O. F. Shombeck and J. D. Davis. Burial was made in the Maxwell cemetery. Her nephew, Ralph Griffin and wife of Chicago were here for the funeral rites.

The following obituary was read by the officiating minister:

Mrs. Eva E. Hallowell was born on Sept. 28, 1859, on a farm near Albia, Iowa. Her maiden name was Eva E. Hall and she was the sister of Emma J. Griffin and Albert Hall now deceased and Elmer C. Hall living here in Maxwell.

She was married to Dr. Geo. Hallowell in 1877 in Monroe county. To this union were born two children who died in infancy. Mrs. Hallowell spent her early married life in Kansas, residing there nearly ten years. After her husband's death in Kansas she returned to Iowa where she resided in Albia and Des Moines. It was in Des Moines that she conducted a business with her brother Elmer. Both retired to Maxwell almost 15 years ago.

Eva passed away August 2, 1946, at the State hospital where she had been under the doctor's care since December 1943.

She is survived by Elmer, her brother, and three nephews.
