Last Rites for Collins Woman Held Monday

Collins, Aug. 6 -- Funeral services for the late Mrs. Charles H. Moore of Collins, who passed away at the Woods hospital, State Center, Saturday, Aug. 3, at 1:00 a.m., were held in the Methodist church Monday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Duane Manning in charge. Music was furnished by a soloist, Mrs. Curtis Marsh, with Mrs. C. R. Stone as accompanist. She sang two songs, "God's Tomorrow" and "In the Garden". The many bouquets of beautiful flowers were arranged at the church and grave by Mrs. Sam Hyatt and Mrs. O. N. Serbein. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery on the family lot, with six grandsons acting as pallbearers. They were Jack Moore, Claude Moore, Martin Moore, E. J. Moore, Robert Moore and Ora Moore.

The following brief obituary was read at the services:

Olive Adelia Moore, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Watkins was born Nov. 14, 1861, in Zanesville, Ohio, and departed this life at the Woods hospital in State Center, Aug. 3, 1946, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 20 days.

She came to Iowa with her parents in 1870 and settled in Hardin county where she grew of young womanhood.

She was married to Charles H. Moore Sept. 11, 1880. To this union seven children were born, four sons and three daughters. Those left to mourn her departure are three sons and a daughter, namely, Frank of Lohrville, Fred of Ames, Lester and Mrs. Hazel McQuiston both of Collins; there are thirty-one grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren, also three sisters all of California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Moore, two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Hennick and Mrs. Maude Hoy and son, William Moore.

She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother, an understanding friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed by all.

She had been in declining health for several years and had been a patient at the Woods hospital for the past two months. She was a patient sufferer and never complained about her illness.

A large number of relative and friends from a distance were present at the services.
