Funeral Services for Mrs. H. L. Brown Held in Des Moines
The funeral service for Mrs. H. L. Brown, was held in the First Lutheran church in Des Moines, Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, G. K. Mykland, assisted by Rev. N. H. Bakke of McCallsburg. Burial was in the Rest Haven cemetery.
Those who attended were from Zearing, Roland, McCallsburg, Story City, Ames, St. Louis, Mo., and Minneapolis, Minn.
The following obituary was read at the funeral service.
"Alta Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sevde, was born at Roland May 11, 1917, a passed away in the Methodist hospital Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1946. She was baptized as a child and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at McCallsburg, in 1932.
"She attended the McCallsburg Consolidated school and graduated in 1936.
"In August, 1941, she was united in marriage to Hollis J. Brown.
"To this union was born Janice Elaine, 4, and Robert Elmo, born Aug. 9, died Aug. 10, 1946.
"Mrs. Brown had been sick for some months and finally had to be taken to the hospital for medical care where this young mother was called away by death. Alta was a wonderful wife and mother and had abilities and a fine disposition, that made her many friends. The family became residents of West Des Moines in August, 1945. At Easter, 1946, she had her church membership transferred to the First Lutheran church at West Des Moines.
"She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, and little Janice Elaine; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sevde; two brothers, Orine, of the coast guard, Chatham, Mass.; Richard of Ames; a sister, Eileen Rench of Greenville, Ill. and many relatives and friends.
