Last Rites for Fred C. Perry At Colo Monday

Services were held at the Evangelical church in Colo Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Fred C. Perry, who had passed away Friday evening at his home. Rev. R. L. Russell, pastor, was in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. C. R. Frankhauser, pastor of the Des Moines Evangelical church.

Music was furnished by John Lounsberry, Lois Yeager, Mrs. Harry Sutherland and Charles Lehman, who sang "Going Down the Valley," "In the Upper Garden," and "Sometime We Will Understand." They were accompanies at the piano by Mrs. Marie Dickinson.

The many beautiful floral bouquets were arranged and cared for Mrs. Isabelle Bamford ad Mrs. Olive Danielson.

Honorary pall bearers were: Lou Morell, Roy Brouhard, Henry Dewey, Alva Gearhart, Clyde Templeman and Harry Ambrose of Nevada. Casket bearers were: Charles Yeager, Charles Reed, Walter Mains, Ross King, George Backous and Jack Quinn.

Interment was in the Colo cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the funeral service.

"Fred C. Perry was born February 13, 1865, in Sycamore, Illinois, the son of Nelson and Elizabeth Perry and passed away at his home in Colo October 4, 1946, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 22 days. Mr. Perry came with his parents to the farmstead at the edge of Colo in 1869 at the age of four years. Here he grew to manhood. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Jennie E. Morgan and to this happy union were born three daughters, Mary, Eva and Lilliace.

For many years he was a highly respected man of the Colo community engaging in many pursuits. He retired from active business several years ago and since has managed his farms and various other business interests.

"Mr. Perry was a reserved man of high ideals, sound integrity, and sympathetic understanding in all his business and personal relationships. His word was his bond and his host of friends and associates testify to his sincerity and high standards.

"Mr. and Mrs. Perry celebrated their golden wedding anniversary August 2, 1943.

"He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, three daughters, Mrs. G. H. Benfer of Des Moines, Mrs. D. R. Deal of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Mrs. B. W. Sefrit of Algona, three grand-children, Mary Jeanette and Carol Benfer and Peter Deal. One grandson, Frederic Perry Benfer, his namesake, preceded him in death, having been killed in action in Italy in 1945. Surviving also are a sister, Mrs. Ada McBarnes of Carroll, and a brother Nelson Perry of Colo, and a number of nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and loved ones."

Frankhauser, Mrs. Mary Connor and Mrs. Grace Tevabaugh, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bales, Mrs. Betty French, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kleinschmidt of Nevada; Mr. Harry Ambrose and Mr. and Mrs. Will Thompson, of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lundy, Mrs. Anna Allen, Mrs. Ida Talbot, Zearing; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sawtell, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Patterson, Elkhart; Mrs. Geo. Sefrit of Ankeny; Mr. and Mrs. Nate Norton of Zearing; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sawtell of Gilbert; Mrs. Wm. Warren of Ames, and Mrs. Florence Bailey, Aurora, Ill.
