THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 1, 1903, page 7, column 2. "Russell Brown, a pioneer settler of this county, who for over thirty years has been an invalid and for over twenty years was unable to stand on his feet was relieved of his sufferings by death at his home, near the Wilderness, at 3 p. m. last Wednesday. He was in his eighty-third year. The remains were laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery."
