She was married to William Brown Feb. 23, 1871, and to this union eight children were born, five boys and three girls, all of whom remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, save the youngest daughter, Mabel, who died October 25, 1918. Brown, of Truman, Minn.; Harve Brown, of Maxwell, Iowa; Jess Brown, of Colo, Iowa; Fred Brown, of Des Moines, Iowa; Harry Brown, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Alice Cummings, of Maxwell and Myrtle Edwards, of Shelly, Iowa. The husban** preceded her to the spirit world ten years ago. She united with the Presbyterian church September 2, 1910, and remained faithful to it to the end. She had been in poor health for several years and was confined to her bed during the last year of her life, but through it all was very kind and patient. Funeral services were held in the church at Iowa Center, Saturday afternoon, B. A. Gann, minister of the Christian church, officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Iowa Center." "Card of Thanks. - We wish to thank our neighbors and friends for their many kind acts and assistance during the illness and burial of our beloved mother, and we also wish to thank the singers and Rev. Gann for their splendid service. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cummings and family." **Editorial note - the spelling used is from the original newspaper article.
