THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 11, 1901, page 1, column 6. "OBITUARY. Nancy Eliza Adams was born May 23, 1823, in Licking county, Ohio. She was baptized into Christ, March, 1840, being in the seventeenth year of her age, and trusted in him and served him till she was called home. On April 16, 1846, she was married to D. R. Brown. They came to this country when it was yet new and together shared the dangers and privations of pioneer life. Their church privileges were not many but they remained faithful and were ready to help in every good work. In 1872 her husband became severly** afflicted with rheuimatism** which eventually so cripple him that for years he has been confined to his room and most of that time to his bed. Her ministrations to him were so constant and devoted that they shut her off from mingling with the outside public almost as completely as his afflictions did him. But in their afflictions and isolation they were not unmindful of the world at large, but by means of church and secular papers kept well posted and well in sympathy with current events. They were among the early promoters and steadfast supporters of the Christian church in Maxwell; being deprived of the privilege of meeting with the church the church** on several different occasions, met with them. These meetings were times of refreshing both to them and the church. Their cheerful steadfast patience was an inspiration to all who knew them. Early in the morning of April 1st, in obedience to the summons, she left the temple of clay to enter into the mansion prepared for her by the Master, and at his hand to receive her reward. The prayers of the church and the best wishes of loving friends and neighbors are with Eld. Brown in his affliction." **Editorial note - spelling used is from the original newspaper article.
