Thor Thorson Was Laid to Rest Wednesday Afternoon

Story City, Oct. 1: Funeral services for Thor Thorson were held on Wednesday, September 24th at 1:30 p. m. at the Henderson Funeral Home and 2 p. m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Samuel Carlsen in charge assisted by Rev. Randolph Anderson. Mrs. Orvie Jacobson and Mrs. Benjamin Anderson sang, "Going Down the Valley One By One" and Rev. Carlsen sand "Shall We Meet Beyond The River."

Pall bearers were Albert S. Larson, Grant I. Johnson, C. F. Johnson, Benedict Tjernagel, B. W. Everson and Orville Owenson.

Thor Thorson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Thorson was born September 8, 1888 at Marselles, Illinois, and passed away September 22, 1946, in St. Mary's hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 58 years and 14 days after an illness of nine months.

He was baptized and confirmed in Morris, Illinois and has been a member of the Lutheran church in Story City, Iowa and Blue Earth, Minnesota.

He spent the first 21 years of his life in Illinois, when he moved to Randall with his parents.

On September 12, 1912 he was united in marriage to Valinda Walker. To this union was born one child, Alvina (Mrs. Nooner Owenson.)

In 1914 he and his family moved to Blue Earth, Minnesota and resided there until 1931, when they returned to Story City.

He was engaged in farming for seven years. Since that time he has been a member of the police force both in Story City and Blue Earth and also was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, and two grandchildren, Thelma and Noel Owenson; and the following brothers and sisters: (Cora) Mrs. Lewis Hauge, (Lillie) Mrs. John Hauge, Milo and Ira Thorson, all of Story City, and (Jennie) Mrs. Albert Boyd of Bremerton, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one grandson.
