Last Rites for Mrs. Addie Cook At Christian Church

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Addie Cook, 70, who passed away Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Byron Bryant, 706 Seventh street, were held Saturday afternoon at the Christian church with the Reverend Hugh Guy officiating.

The many beautiful floral offering were arranged by Mrs. Merrill Marshall, Mrs. Rena Phillips, Mrs. John Peterson and Mrs. H. D. Patterson.

Wayne Cooley sang "The End of a Perfect Day" with Mrs. Arthur Hale accompanying.

The casket bearers were grandson of the deceased: Max Cook of Nevada, Kenneth Cook, Ray Cook, Jr., and Leonard Staker of Ames, Wayne Cook and Robert Cook of De Kalb, Ill. Committal was in the Nevada cemetery.

A fine tribute to the life of the deceased was given by the officiating minister who also read the following obituary.

"Addie May Dean was born in Never Sink, New York, March 25,1876, the second daughter of Albert C. and Malissa Dean. At the age of six years her parents moved to Sycamore, Ill., where they resided until 1888, when they moved to Iowa, where she has lived since, with the exception of the past three years spent with her son, Don, and granddaughter in Sycamore, Ill.

"On November 16, 1892 she was united in marriage to James T. Cook. To this union were born seven children, one of which, Mrs. Eva Anderson, preceded her in death on September 8. 1919. She leaves besides her husband to mourn her death one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Bryant, of Nevada, Ia, five sons, Ray of Ames, Virgil, Howard and James, Jr., of DeKalb, Ill., and Don of Sycamore, Ill.

"Ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Moran and Mrs. Fannie Cook of Nevada, Mrs. Victor Kohl of Gilmore City, Ia., Mrs. John Brouhard of Colo, Ia, one brothers, Ira Dean of Middletown, New York and an innumerable number of friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Cook was a member of the Christian church of Nevada for many years. She was also an active member of the Women's Relief Corp.

"She was always helpful and kind to everyone. Her presence will be greatly missed by her loved ones, and all who had come to know her friendly spirit."

A beautiful poem, a request of Mrs. Cook's entitled "When I Grow Old" was read by Rev. Guy.

From Out of Town

Relatives from out of town in attendance at the last rites included Howard Cook and family, James Cook, Jr., and family, Virgil Cook and wife and Wayne Cook and wife of De Kalb, Ill.; Don Cook and daughter, Mary Lou, of Sycamore, Ill., Mrs. Ray Cook, Kenneth Cook and wife, Ray Cook, Jr., and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Staker, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Van Scoy and Mr. and Mrs. George Mayo of Ames. Ray Cook of Ames, son of the deceased is in the hospital following an operation.

Mrs. V. V. Kohl of Gilmore City and daughter, Mrs. Carl Johnson of Des Moines, Mrs. John Brouhard of Colo, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Cook of Zearing, Mr. and Mrs. Art Couser and family of Fernald.

Among the friends from out of town in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maudlin of Webster City and Mrs. Gilbrt Needs of Eagle Grove.
