Mrs. A. A. White Laid to Rest Friday Afternoon

Colo, March 24 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. White were held Friday afternoon, March 1 at 2:30 in the Colo Methodist church. Rev. Arlen Marsh of Oregon, Ill. was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. Alfred Schneck, local pastor. Music was provided by Rev. R. L. Russell, pastor of the Evangelical church, who used at his solo numbers, "In the Sweet By and By" and "My Task." Mrs. Lois Dickinson presided at the piano.

Casket bearers were Glenn Olson, Robert Bamford, Claire Lounsberry, Ray Lounsberry, Richard Lounsberry and Max Lounsberry all grandsons of Mrs. White.

The flowers were cared for and arranged by Mesdames Jessie Brouhard, Mayme Binder, Elsie Dickinson, Ida Horner, Minnie O'Donnell and Margaret Niland.

A large group of Eastern Star members of Isabelle chapter attended in a body.

The funeral was largely attended by a wide circle of sorrowing friends and relatives. The front of the church was banked with the great number of floral sprays, baskets of flowers and emblems which expressed the high esteem held for Mrs. White by all who were associated with her, as neighbors, members of organizations, friends and relatives.

The following obituary was read at the funeral service:

Mary Marilla Brodies was born the daughters of John and Mary Brodie of LaSalle county, near Sandwich, Ill., August 28th 1863 an passed away in the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown, March 18, 1947 at the age of 84 years, 6 mos. 10 days. they moved to Kendall county, Illinois in 1867 where she attended public school and Fowler Institute of art and music. The family moved near Iowa Center where she grew to womanhood. She spent many years teaching music.

She was united in marriage to A. A. White, March 25th, 1888 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Will Dunahoo. They settled on a farm southwest of Colo where they continued to live until they moved to Colo 30 years ago. To this union were born two sons, Ross of Colo and Glenn of Rock Island, Illinois. Four daughters, Mrs. Pauline Olson, Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, Mrs. Isabelle Bamford of Colo and Mrs. Elizabeth Banks of Nevada, 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

She was united with the Church of God where she was organist for many years. She remained a faithful member as long as her health permitted. when they moved to Colo she attended the Methodist church and was a member of the Womens Society of Christian Service. She was a member of W. O. club, also Isabelle chapter of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as pianist for several years.

They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1938 and had she lived until the 25th of this month would have celebrated their 59th.

She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and was happiest when she had her family and friends around her. She was the last of her family of eleven children. Her parents and seven brothers and sisters came fro Dundee, Scotland.

Besides her six children she leaves to mourn, her devoted husband, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Lounsberry, Cedar Falls, Mrs. L. W. Artherholt, Waterloo, Mrs. Harold Baker, Jefferson, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Lounsberry, Mr. and Mrs. Vernie L. Lounsbberry, Dallas Center, Mrs. Sarah Brodie, Collins, Dr. and Mrs. Wm. Joor, Mrs Earl Bown, Mrs. Eldon Richrdson, Mrs. Harlan Witmer all of Maxwell, Mrs. Ross Brodie, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Bond, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. Belle Smith all of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hartwig, State Center, Miss Marie McCoy of Lake City, Miss Bette Bamford, Kewannee, Ill., Dr. and Mrs. Joe White, Dows, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. White, Popejoy, Mrs. Elsie White, Miss Jeannette White and Miss Kay White of Springfield, Ill., Mr and Mrs. Donald Hamilton, Boone and Mr. Tennis Larson of Slater.
