OBITUARY

Caroline Jane Shaw was born near Fairbury, Ill., November 11, 1864, and departed this life November 24, 1920, aged 56 years and 13 days. In childhood she moved with her parents to Kansas, where they lived for a few years. Later they returned to Fairbury, Ill., where they remained only for short time, as her father purchased land in Campaign county, Ill., and moved his family to that place, where they resided until 1892 when the family moved to Colo, Iowa.

Three years later, on March 10, 1895, the subject of this sketch was united in marriage to Edward A. Binder, who preceded her in death only two weeks. In March 1914, she, with her lately deceased husband, moved to Baraboo, Wis., where they have since made their home.

Mrs. Binder leaves to mourn her departure, her father, Jas. W. Shaw, who has always made his home with her since the death of her mother; one brother, Wilber F. Shaw, of Cedar Rapids; and several nephews and nieces beside a wide circle of death friends. All her life Mrs. Binder had been a faithful member of the Methodist church, always taking her church letter as she moved from one locality to another. When she came to Colo she presented her letter to and was accepted by the Colo Methodist church. Her earnest, faithful Christian life was an incentice for good in the lives of others.

The remains were brought to Colo Friday, Nov. 26. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. B. Adams, who spoke from Phil. 1:23, and used Rom. 8:31-39 as the scripture lesson. Interment was made in the Colo cemetery by the side of the newly made grave of her husband, who was called to his reward two weeks before. Sincere sympathy is extended to the sorrowing ones.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: W. F. Shaw and daughter Zola of Cedar Rapids; Harold Shaw of New Hampton; Jesse Shaw of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Binder and Frank Binder of Baraboo, Wis.; Mrs. Amanda Thornton of Butterfield, Minn.; Mrs. Arthur Porter of Winnebago, Minn., and Milo Thornton of Des Moines.
