Funeral Services For Frank Binder Held in Colo

Colo, May 8 -- Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Frank Binder, who passed away Sunday at the hospital in Baraboo, Wis. The services were held at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Binder. Rev. Alfred Schneck, pastor of the Colo Methodist church, was in charge of the services. Music was furnished by Mrs. Nellie Lounsberry and Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, who used "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross" as their songs, with Mrs. Mildred Brinkman accompanying at the organ.

Casket bearers were Edd Smith, Forrest McCollom, George Tichenor, Ross White, Omar Farren and Charles Yeager.

The flowers were cared for and arranged by Mrs. Jessie Brouhard and Mrs. Mable Tichenor.

Following is the obituary read by Rev. Schneck during the service:

Frank Binder, son of Carl and Mary Binder, was born on a farm south of Colo, May 18, 1872. His life was spent in the Colo community until about the year 1915 when he moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin. Frank never married but made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Thake. He was very fond of the Thake children giving them much care and attention during their childhood.

Frank enjoyed his many friends, being very happy traveling with them and he made many trips with various ones. He was always of a kind and jovial disposition and ready to help in a time of need.

His health has not been good for several years, having suffered several strokes. He passed away at Baraboo, May 4, 1947 at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 16 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters, he being the last one of the Carl Binder family. He is survived by 15 nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mayme Binder and Mrs. Hattie Binder, and two brother-in-laws, W. H. Morgan and Ralph Muhm.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended were: Mrs. A. C. Porter, Winnebago, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Doward Terpstra and Mr. and Mrs. W. h. Morgan, Reasnor, Iowa; Mr. C. W. Morgan, Boone; Mrs. Lena Thake and Mrs. Roy Moore from State Center.

Services had been held Monday, May 5, in the Funeral chapel at Baraboo, Wis. The body then being returned to Colo by the W. C. Brouhard funeral directors of Zearing.

Interment was in the family lot in the Colo cemetery.
