Funeral Services Held Friday for Mrs. O. V. Olson

McCallsburg, Oct. 9--Funeral services for Mrs. O. V. Olson took place Friday, Oct. 3, with devotionals conducted at the Erickson funeral parlors, Roland, at 1:15. At this service Nadine Teig and Viola Mae Lura sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought."

The services at the Bethany Lutheran church in McCallsburg were at 2:00 in charge of her pastor, H. N. Bakke.

Mrs. Berger Imsland and Mrs. G. E. DuBois sang two duets "Face to Face" and "The Old Rugged Cross," Mrs. O. E. Ritland sand "Den Store Hvide Flok, " in Norwegian. Mrs. John Helland was at the piano. The text for the sermon was 1 Cor., 15, 10, first half of verse.

Mrs. Lloyd Ellingson and Mrs. Alfred Mannes and charge of the flowers.

There were many gifts for Missions and for the church building fund.

The pall bearers were Kermit Hougen, Maurice Hougen, Jerald Grimsley, Marvin Malmin, Harold Egenes and Paul Egenes. The remains were laid to rest in Warren township cemetery.

The pastor read the following obituary: Bertha Julia Olson, daughter of Maurits and Karen Malmin, was born near McCallsburg, Iowa, Feburary 13, 1887 and passed away September 29, 1947, at the hospital in Eldora where she had been cared for the last three days, at the age of 60 years, 7 month and 14 days.

Mrs. Olson grew to womanhood in this community and on July 9, 1907 she was united in marriage to Ole V. Olson. They went to farming three miles northwest of McCallsburg which since has been her home.

To this union four children were born Obed and Maynard of McCallsburg, Cadelia (Mrs. Wallace Anderson) of Roland, and Malmin of Radcliffe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away August 4, 1938, also her parents, two sisters, one who died in infancy and an older sister, Mrs. O. C. Hougen, and two brothers Adolph and Harry Malmin.

Left to mourn her passing besides her four children are eight grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Clara Egenes and Gerhard Malmin of this place and Mrs. Laura Grimsley of St. Cloud, Minn. and Martin Malmin of Minneapolis, Minn. as well as many nephews and nieces and other near relatives.

Mrs. Olson was a devoted and loving mother and an earnest Christian, deeply interested in her Saviour's work and in the work of the local church of which she was a member, having served faithfully in different organizations. She was well informed in the Word of God. Blessed be her memory.

Out of town relatives at the funeral were Mrs. Laura Grimsley, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Grimsley of St. Cloud, Minn., Mr and Mrs. M. K. Malmin of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Long of Madrid, Mrs. Charles Sundean of Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Skartvedt of Ellsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Malmin and Eleanor Egenes of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson, E. Frederickson, Otis Jorstad of Forest City, Mr. and Mrs. Olger Lenning of Story City, Marcella Egenes of Decorah, Harold and Paul Egenes of Grinnell, Mrs. Harold Phillips of Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Hougan, Mr. and mrs. Victor Lura, Harvey and Harriet Lura and Mrs Albert Corey of Roland.

There were friends here from Radclifee, Zearing, Forest City, Ellsworth, Story City and Roland.
