He spent his entire life in McCallsburg and surrounding community with the exception of 1 1/2 years which he spent in World War I, six months of which was spent overseas in France with the 102nd Inf., 41st Div.

On February 25, 1925 he was united in marriage to Inga Oliva Sampson and to this union five children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Those left to mourn his passing besides his wife are four children, Juel, John, Ione and James; one sister, Mrs. Millie Holland of Story City; four brothers, Ole of Garden City, Elmer, Arthur and Sanford, all of Roland. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a vacancy that can never be filled. He was wonderfully patient throughout the long illness which caused him so much suffering. He passed away secure and happy in the faith of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The funeral was held last Sunday with a brief devotional service at the Erickson Funeral Home in Roland followed by final services at the Bergen Lutheran Church at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Nelson in charge. Mrs. Otto J. Hanson was at the organ. After a hymn by the audience, Rev Nelson offered prayer, after which he read a brief obituary. Miss Loretta Britson of McCallsburg sang "Rock of Ages" at the Funeral Home, and two duets, "Face to Face" and "Beyond the Sunset" wer sung by Mrs. Berger Imsland and Mrs. G.E. DuBois.
