Funeral Services Held Sunday For Charles Hart

Colo, May 3 -- Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Evangelical U. B. church at Colo for Charles Wesley Hart of State Center. The services were in charge of the Rev. R. L. Russell, pastor of the church. Casket bearers were: Ralph Thornson, Herbert White, Claude Shickell, Charles Yeager, Chester Dickinson and Claude Dickinson.

The many beautiful floral offerings were cared for and arranged by Mrs. Mae Perry and Mrs. Beulah Perry. Music was provided by Rev. R. L. Russell, as soloist, who sang "God Understands," and two duets were sung by Mrs. Lois Yeager and Charles Lehman who used, "There Will be no Dark Valley" and "Beautiful Isle." Mrs. Gladys McIntoch presided at the piano.

Following is the obituary read by Rev. R. L. Russell during the service.

Charles Wesley Hart was born the son of William and Emma Hart on October 22, 1882 in Somerset County, Hyndman, Pennsylvania. He came with his family to Iowa when he was 18 years old living for 20 year in Story County and then moving to Marshall County near State Center, until the time of his death.

He was united in marriage on March 2, 1914 to Elsie Day. To this union were born 4 children, 3 having preceeded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow and one daughter, Marguerite Helen of State Center. In addition he is survived by two brothers: John of State Center and Sankey of Holsapple, Pennsylvania; and one sister, Mrs. Laura Buffington, of Forth Dodge; a number of other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Hart had been in poor health for a number of years but only recently was taken to the St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown where he died on April 29, 1948 at the age of 65 years.

Interment was at the Evergreen Cemetery at Collins, Iowa.
