William Thompson is Dead At Age of 81; Services Are Pending

William F. Thompson, 103 J. Ave., Nevada, died this morning at 9:10 a.m. at the Story County Hospital, where he had been a patient the past two weeks suffering from cancer.

The 81 year old Nevadan, a retired farmer and carpenter, was familiar to Nevada children as the operator of an ice cream wagon in recent years.

He was born in Champaign, Ill. April 19, 1884, the son of John W. and Sabina Thompson. He lived in Story County nearly his entire life.

He was a member of the Nevada Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Armyle A. Arends of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. John Upchurch of Nevada; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, a daughter, Eva Thomas, and his wife, Elsie May, who died January 23.

Funeral arrangement are pending at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.
