Funeral Service for Ole J. Halverson Held Aug. 7, Ames
Funeral service for Ole J. Halverson were held Saturday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m. with prayer services at the home conducted by Rev. Peder Buland and a song "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" by Mrs. Arnold Nerness of Cambridge; after which services were held from the Bethesda Lutheran church in Ames and Rev. Buland in charge assisted by Rev. Knutson.
There were also many beautiful floral offerings and a sum of money given to the Missions in his memory.
Pall bearers were: Oscar Larosn, Chester Dueland, LeRoy Wagner, Harry Jordan, Sam Switzer and John Berrett.
Burial was in the Ames Municipal cemetery.
Obituary
Ole J. Halverson was born at Norway, Iowa, July 21, 1873 and passed away August 3, 1948 at the age of 75 years and 13 days on his farm northeast of Cambridge in Union township.
He was one of eight children born to Ole and Anna Halverson.
At the age of 12 they came to Story County and settled down on a farm six miles southeast of Ames in the Walnut Grove community where he grew to manhood.
He was baptized in Benton county and confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran church in Huxley by Rev. Wiese.
In the year 1900 he was united in marriage to Maggie E. Nelson by Rev. Gutteboe. There were no children born to this union.
He has been engaged in farming all his life. For the last 28 years they have resided on their own farm there and one-half miles southwest of Shipley in Grant township.
He has been subject to a heart ailment for several years but since the first of this year he has been failing rapidly. All through his life has worked hard and was active till his death came as a shock to the whole community.
Ole was a kind and loving husband and in his passing will be greatly missed by his many friends and neighbors.
Surviving him include his wife, Maggie, three sisters, Mrs. Tom Stensland and Mrs. Elsie Scott of Ames, Mrs. George Nelson of Fort Ripley, Minnesota; two brothers Halver and Annis of Ames; two sisters preceded him in death.

Larson, Fort Eustis, Va., as well as people from Story City, Ames, Zearing, Nevad,a Kelley, Huxley, Cambridge, Des Moines, Ankeny, St. Charles, Woodward and Dallas Center, Iowa.
