Leslie (Les) Marion Aasheim, 82, passed away on March 29 in Des Moines, IA.

Son of Norwegian immigrants Henry and Ingrid (Haaland) Aasheim, he was born on Jan. 12, 1938, on a farm in Hamilton County, IA. Les was the youngest of six siblings and graduated from McCallsburg High School. Les worked as a teacher and principal for 35 years.

Les is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Schwartz); children Tracy (Scott) Gerlach, Eric (Sarah) Aasheim, Michael (Gareth) Aasheim-Osborne, Sherri (Nicholas) Bogue; grandchildren Zachary, Brycen, Emma, Jacob, Sabrina, Jesse, Andrew, and Luke; and brother Harlan (Carol) Aasheim of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ingrid Aasheim; siblings Raymond, Helen, Astrid, and Sherman.

There will be a private family service and a future memorial. In lieu of flowers, Les asked that donations be sent to the Windsor Heights Lutheran Church or the Clive Historical Society.
