Final Services For Lester M. Bodine

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in the Johnson Grove church for Lester Bodine, who passed away suddenly Tuesday morning at his home from a hear attack.

The services were in charge of the Rev. Alfred Schneck, pastor of the Colo Methodist church.

Music was provided by Mrs. Nellie Lounsberry and Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, who used as their duet numbers, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Paul Henry accompanied them at the piano.

Honorary casket bearers were Dr. J. E. Williams, Joseph Hopkins, Lloyd Lounsberry, Charles Smith, Ernest Meade and Thore Langland.

Active casket bearers were Claude Elwell, S. R. Fincham, Lester Fincham, Chester Neeld, Horace Lounsberry and W. C. Eddy.

The flowers were cared for and arranged by Mrs. Thomas Handsaker and Mrs. John Roche.

Several memorials in money were received which will be given in his memory to the Story County Hospital fund.

Burial was in Versales, Indiana. The body was shipped from Nevada after the services, accompanied by his sisters.

Obituary

Lester Monfort Bodine was born March 16, 1892, near Rushville, Indiana, the son of Isaac M. and Lucina J. Bodine. He departed life Oct. 26, 1948, at the home near Colo, Iowa, at the age of 56 years, seven months and 10 days.

Most of his adult life was spent in and near Colo. He never married but made a home for his father for several years. His sister Annie was living with him at the time of his death.

He was kind-hearted and made many friends. He was a member of the Knight of Pythias lodge as long as there was an organization in Nevada and since then has kept his membership in the State lodge. At one time in his life he was a member of the Odd Fellow lodge. Although not a member of the church he had deep reverence for things sacred.

His father, mother and one brother Raymond preceded him in death.

Survivors

Surviving are three sisters, Alice and Clara Bodine of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Annie Shepherd of Colo., and several cousins in Indiana.
