Many Attend Services For Mrs. Amos Kendig

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., at the Collins Methodist church, for Mrs. Amos Kendig, who passed away Nov. 8 at Kalamazoo, Mich. Mrs. Kendig's death was very sudden, following a stroke.

Services were in charge of the Rev. Aldreth V. Weigel, pastor of the church. Music was furnished by Mrs. Vance Stead, vocalist, and Mrs. C. R. Stone, pianist, the hymns being "My Task," and "Teach Me Thy Will."

The floral arrangement was by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Beals, Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. J. H Boyd.

Pallbearer were Archie Witmer, Harland Witmer, Claire Adams, Frank Witmer, Archie Lund, and Erville Bowers. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Obituary

Florence Pauline Witmer, daughter of Daniel and Anna Witmer, was born May 10, 1870 at Greencastle, Iowa and passed away at her home in Kalamazoo, Mich., Nov. 8, 1948.

Her childhood friend was spent in and around the Green Valley neighborhood near Mingo, Iowa.

On Feb. 28, 1993, she was united in marriage with Amos Kendig and to this union three children were born.

Most of her married life was spent in and abound Collins, until the death of her husband, when she went to Kalamazoo, Mich., to make her home with her daughter Mabel.

She was a loyal member of the Methodist church of Collins and was very active in her church work in the first Methodist church of Kalamazoo for the last eight years.

She was a loving wife and mother and always thoughtful of others.

Survivors

She was preceded in death, by her husband and son, Ralph, and leaves to mourn her loss two daughter, Mrs. John I. Kimberley of Collins and Miss Mabel Kendig of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one grand daughter, Mrs. Wilma Bowers and three great grandchildren Sharon, Connie and Karol Bowers. Also two brothers, John R. Witmer of Collins, Earl H. Witmer of Newton, Iowa and one half-sister Mrs. Nellie Scharf of Newton.

Relatives from away who were in attendance were:

Lester Tinnemier, all of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Westfall, Mingo; Mrs. Stanley Smith, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Lund, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Adams, Zearing; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kendig and family, Elkhart; Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Kendig, Madrid, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Witmer, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Witmer, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Witmer, Mrs. Vera Hostettler, Mrs. Hazel Young, all of Maxwell, Miss Mabel Kendig, Kalamazoo, Mich.
