Hold Final Rites For Mrs. O. Kalsem

Funeral services for Mrs. O. J. Kalsem were held at the Fjeldberg Lutheran church in Huxley Sunday, Dec. 26, with the Rev. M. Harold Rye officiating.

After the organ prelude by Mrs. Ruth Fjelland, the choir sang "Just As I Am" and the obituary and Scripture was read by the pastor. Mrs. E. D. Hall sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and the choir sang "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling." Rev. O. C. Hellekson also gave a few remarks.

All of the immediate family with the exception of one grandson, Don Melaas, were present at the services.

Obituary

Anna K. Nelson Kalsem was born on a farm, southwest of Cambridge in Polk county, on May 15, 1874, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nelson. She was the fourth of seven children and passed away at her home in Huxley at 5 p.m. Dec. 22, at the age of 74 years, seven months and seven days. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifetime member of the Fjeldberg Lutheran church in Huxley.

On Feb. 18, 1895, she was united in marriage with Ole J. Kalsem of Huxley, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John V. Kalsem. To this union five children were born, four daughters, Millie of Chicago, Alma (Mrs. C. A. Larson) of Ames, Javerna (Mrs. Sophes Berhow) of Huxley, and Madelia (Mrs. I. J. Melaas), who passed away several years ago, and one son, Orville N. of Huxley. Her husband, the late Ole J. Kalsem, preceded her in death; also surviving are ten grandchildren and two brothers, Andy C. Nelson of Des Moines and Martin J. Nelson of Cambridge and many other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend. Her many kindnesses to her family and friends and church will long be cherished. Blessed be her memory.
