Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Helga Larson were held at Palestine Lutheran Church on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. Pastor Ernest Thompson officiated and based his meditation on Psalm 23.
Organist was Mrs. Noel Larson. She accompanied Lawrence Larson of Lisbon, Ill. when he sang. Pallbearers were Lawrence Larson, Osmond Larson, Jr., Edward Larson, Seward Larson, Noel Larson and LeRoy Estrem. Interment was in Palestine cemetery.
Mrs. Helga Larson, daughter of Johan and Siri Buer* was born Oct. 14, 1889 in Hejelmeland, Norway, and died at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Aug. 15, 1977 at the age of 87.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the church at Hjelmeland. She came to the United States in May, 1910. On Dec. 23, 1913 she was united in marriage to Oscar Larson. They farmed in the Huxley community until they retired and moved to Ames in the spring of 1947.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, grandson Lloyd John, parents, four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by two sons: Lester and his wife, Leona, Rudolph and his wife Alvina; four grandchildren: Ruth Ann and Roger of Huxley, Oriett of Rockford, Ill., Donna and Rick Knox of Anchorage, Alaska.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to the marriage record of Oscar Larson and Helga, her husband's obituary, and the birth record of both her sons, her maiden name was Sabo not Buer as stated.
