Hold Final Services For Chas. Bennett

Funeral services for Charles P. Bennett, 68, who died from a heart attack Saturday, Feb. 12 in Leon, Iowa, were Tuesday afternoon in the Nevada Christian church with the Rev. Hugh C. Guy in charge. Services were also conducted Tuesday morning at the Steward Funeral home in Leon with the Rev. J. L. McCurdy, minister of the Leon Christian church in charge.

At the Nevada services Miss Virginia Bierschwal sang "Face to Face" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Mrs. Norman Dobson at the piano.

Burial was in Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Obituary

Charles Preston Bennett was born in Green county, Iowa, Sept. 5, 1880, near Jefferson, the son of Hirman and Amanda Bennett* and passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Decatur County hospital at Leon, death resulting from a heart attack. He was 68 years, five months and seven days old. All his brother and sisters had preceded him in death.

He grew to manhood near Jefferson, where he was united in marriage to Ora Jane Tucker on July 28, 1901. To this union there were born five children, one died in infancy. Mr. Bennett moved to Decatur county after purchasing a farm six years ago. He was a good neighbor and friend to all, and will be greatly missed by friends and relatives.

Survivors

Surviving are his wife and five children, Mrs. Leon C. Hall of Nevada, Mrs. Amos Hand of Worland, Wyo., Mrs. Gerald Johnson (a foster daughter) of Osceola, Warren of Roland and Alden of Weldon, Iowa. Also nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him.

Relatives and friends attending the Nevada services were Mr. and Mrs. Verle Blackburn, Mrs. Anna Thornton and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hawn of Jefferson; Frank Hartman, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tucker and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hartman of Grand Junction, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Paulson of Ogden; Mrs. Scott Bennett of Lawton, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bennett of Dana, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bundy of Ames.
