Hold Final Services For Harry G. Martin

Funeral services were held in the Brouhard Funeral home in Zearing for Harry G. Martin recently with Rev. R. A. Dennert in charge of the services. Interment was in the Eldora cemetery.

Active casket bearers were K. L. Cerka, William Brown, Sr., Rolland Philpot, Arthur Kleespie, Russell Golly and Ray Lightfoot. Honorary pall bearers were Charles Kleespie, Amos Hanson, William Young, Dr. L. L. Bowie, Fred Haase and John Lundy.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Doris Rankin and Mrs. Myrtle Eley. Music was furnished by Carroll Bailey, soloist, with Mrs. Delos Dakins at the piano.

Obituary

Harry Gaylord Martin, eldest son of Aaron and Sarah Martin was born at Wenona, Ill., on Feb. 23, 1867, and passed away at his home in Zearing on Feb. 14, 1949, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 22 days.

He attended college at Bloomington, Ill., and was a fireman on the Baltimore and Ohio railroad.

On Nov. 30, 1899, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Kemp of Wenona. In 1903, he and his wife moved to farm south of Zearing, where they have continued to live.

Survivors

Surviving are his wife; one brother, Edwin, and a sister, Helen M. Purvis, both of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two nephews and a niece.

Mr. Martin was a member of the Pacific lodge, 469, A.F. and A.M. at the time of his death. The members of the lodge group are today commemorating his more than 50 years of membership. He was also a member of the Eastern Star and has been active in community affairs all his life. His many friends and associates will miss his cheery greeting and friendly smile. All join with sympathy with the wife in this hour of sorrow.
