Final Services For Mrs. Susie Hopkins

Funeral services were held Monday morning, May 9, for Mrs. Susan Hopkins at 10 o'clock in the St. Mary's church at Colo with the Rev. Father Vern Cross in charge of Requiem High mass. Music was furnished by the St. Mary's church choir, with Mrs. Roger Hopkins, soloist, and Mrs. Frances O'Donnell, organist.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. M. R. McCoy, Mrs. Glenn Olson and Bert Olson.

Casket bearers were John Donnelly, Bert Olson, Charles Fleming, Roger Hopkins, Arthur Perry and M. R. McCoy.

Burial was in the St. James cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Hopkins was born in Colo, July 1, 1882, being the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Croker. She received her education in the Colo schools graduating with the class of 1900.

On June 25, 1902, she was united in marriage to R. H. Hopkins, establishing their home in Colo. Three sons were born into the home, Clayton, Russell and Herbert.

Mrs. Hopkins was a faithful and true member of St. Mary's church in Colo, and gave much of her time, energy and talents to the Ladies of St. Mary's society.

She was a member of the B.F. and T. club and also of the Colo Garden club, which she greatly enjoyed attending.

She was taken ill on Sunday, while a guest in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Neidert of Nevada. She was taken to the St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltown on Tuesday morning, where she was a medical patient and underwent a surgical operation. While seemingly recovering she suffered a relapse and passed away Friday morning, May 6, at 9:30 a.m.

Survivors

She is survived by her husband R. H. Hopkins; three sons, Russell of Ames, Clayton and Herbert of Colo; three brothers, P. E. Croker of Des Moines; James A. Croker of Colo and William J. Croker of Dallas City, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. George Neidert of Nevada and five grandchildren.

Relatives and friends attended the services from Glencoe, Ill., Des Moines, Grimes, Ackley, Iowa City, Dallas City, Ill., Ames, Waterloo, State Center, Nevada and New Hampton.

The Ladies of St. Mary's society served a dinner at 12:30 in the church parlors for the funeral cortege.
